Serving the English-Speaking Catholics of Cuenca
Our Pastoral Council
The Pastoral Council is a group of five community members who provide assistance and counsel to Father Kevin Codd in the development of our church family. The council members meet with Father Kevin several times a year and annually meet with all our community members to evaluate what has been happening and plan for the future of our church family, always looking for new ways to deepen our faith, our worship, and our outreach. Each of us is honored to be able to serve this thriving church community in Cuenca!
Please feel free to contact us to share with us your concerns, ideas, or wisdom.

After retiring as the Administrator of a busy ophthalmology practice in North Carolina, I relocated to Cuenca where I eventually discovered the friendliest Catholic church I have ever experienced! This welcoming community has inspired me since 2017 to donate my time, energy and occasional “not donuts” to help keep and grow this wonderful parish. I am grateful and honored to be a member of this parish and and to serve on its Council.

I'm from Houston Texas; member of the St Thomas More Catholic Church for 40 years. We volunteered weekly spending a Holy Hour 11:00 pm to midnight in the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for more than 10 years.
I’m a retired Registered Nurse. Married to Don Foronda, with 2 children and 2 grandkids.
We have been in Cuenca EC for more than 6 years. We volunteered with the Cuenca Soup Kitchen at Iglesia San Francisco weekly serving refugees and the underprivileged for about 3 years until the Covid pandemic.
I love traveling with my husband.

Having visited South America in the mid-1990s, I decided to make a return visit to see locales I had not previously explored with the intention of returning afterwards to my home in the US. Cuenca was my first stop of a much larger planned visit, but drawn to the natural beauty of Ecuador and the colonial vibe of Cuenca, I threw away my ongoing ticket and decided to spend more time exploring where I had landed. Since 2015 , Cuenca has been my home.
Earlier church experience in the San Francisco Archdiocese included attending their first Lay Academy, involvement in the local parish Liturgy Committee, Social Justice, and RCIA. The SF Archdiocese was one of the first Churches to respond to the AIDS crisis with a hospital ministry in which I participated. In the early 80s, the Episocpal Diocese wanted to establish a ministry primarily focusing on the many forms of addictive behavior. I was invited to participate in the establishment of a “parsonage ministry” which ended up providing resources nationally. So that is I. At coffee hour, you might want to tell me who you are.
